Massive K Collaboration
6 September 2010-Monday
-Supriya Pradhan

Last Saturday, on 4th Sept at Gurukul, Baneshwore took place the biggest musical collaboration extravaganza Kathmandu has ever witnessed. Well, the name says it all, “Kutumba Collaborates at Gurukul”!

Our beloved ensemble of instrumentalists Kutumba, who never fail to amaze us with the sounds of Nepali indigenous musical instruments, teamed up with a number of artists to give a power-pact fusion-based performance. The line up was absolutely mind blowing- Mica Sundari (Vocals), Garima Gurung Shah (Vocals), Sunit Kansakar (Sitar), Ashish Chitrakar (Guitar), Arun Gurung (Bass) and Lyrics Inthependense – a hip hop trio consisting of Yanik Shrestha, Aidray, and Gaurab Subba. When there are such great names performing, the show is bound to be superb.

All the acts were so excellent that they had the audience on their feet! In other words, it was too hard to handle. Kutumba were breathtaking as always. However, one of the most noticeable performances had to be the collaboration with Lyrics Inthependense. It is not every day that we get to see freestyle rapping accompanied by Kutumba’s irresistible tunes. On the other hand, Garima Gurung Shah’s bedazzling voice had everyone mesmerized and it’s always pleasant to see Japanese singer Mica Sundari churn out some Nepali songs in her own unique style.

When asked the organizers about the show, they were completely taken aback by the crowd turnout. It was more than they expected! They’re sure the audience had a once in a lifetime experience and they also had no problem saying “The show was a hit!” Such concerts do make us proud, musically.
