23 April 2010-Friday
-The Cheeguz

He writes, he composes and needless to say, he even sings!! With a unique looking persona, including his dreadlocks, he always manages to amaze us. He is Kiran Michael who just happened to release his debut effort "Basti". It’s doing pretty good actually. So being the talk of the town, we decided to pick him as our main focus.

1. What’s music to you?

Kiran: Well, music to me is a creation. Not just any regular creation but a fascinating one which never fails to amaze me.

2. Tell us how you ended up choosing music as a career. Have you always wanted to become a singer?

Kiran: Music as my career wasn’t a random choice. I mean, it didn’t happen just by fluke. To be more specific, the reason why I chose music was because it’s fun and everybody likes music.

3. You were known as a composer before you actually turned singer, why this shift?

Kiran: The shift took place because I was sure all the tunes I’d been composing before for other artists were loved by the singers themselves as well as the audience. So I thought, why not grab the spotlight myself. I also got encouragement from others to do so.

4. Writing, composing and singing: If you were to choose, which is more satisfying?

Kiran: I have to say, writing because that’s when I reach the peak of satisfaction. I feel like I’m in a totally new world when I’m penning down my feelings.

5. What kind of projects are you doing now?

Kiran: Currently I’m working on my second project. It’s my second album which is going to be titled “Jaati- The Tribe”. It is going to be dedicated entirely to reggae music and yes, you can definitely look forward to a whole lot of surprises.

6. Your first single “Hukka Tani” has been on the radio for sometime. How did you feel the first time you heard it?

Kiran: I was extremely happy!! Absolutely over the moon. So I’d like to thank all the media for supporting me…to this extent.

7. What’s with the Hukka thing? Do you smoke?

Kiran: No, I don’t smoke. It was just something I did out of my fascination toward the…element “Hukka”, sorf of like a dedication to the thing which is loved by quite a number of people here.

8. How friendly are you? Do you think your easy going nature has put you in trouble?

Kiran: Yes, you can say I’m of friendly nature but I don’t think I’ve got in trouble. Fortunately, nobody has taken advantage of me. Phew! Thank God!

9. What’s the best part of your job?

Kiran: Writing I guess. Lyric is the first step towards the birth of a song. It’s the words that are the starting point of any song making process.

10. Who matters the most to you in your life?

Kiran:
It’s got to be love. After all, the whole world revolves around love, right?

11. What does “success” mean to you?

Kiran:
Success to me is sacrifice. If you want to gain something, you’ve got to put the “having fun” part to rest, not entirely but to some extent. No doubt, hard work always leads to success.

12. What is your greatest weakness?

Kiran: I tend to believe almost everyone too easily which sometimes leads to not so pleasant results. So I’d say, trusting/believing blindly is my greatest weakness.

13. On a day off, what do you enjoy the most?

Kiran: I love watching movies. You can say it’s my second passion after music.
